Identity Theft

What Is Identity Theft?

When someone uses your name, birth date, or other identifying information to commit a crime or conceal their true identity, that is called identity theft. It can also involve unauthorized use of your credit cards or check fraud.

Who Are the Victims?

Identity theft or fraud can happen to anyone, anywhere. Some crimes are committed in person via a lost or stolen purse or wallet, but more frequently, identity theft or fraud happens online.
