May General Election

A general local election is held each year in May to fill vacancies for City Council. At times, special elections may be held in November.

Early Voting

April 24-28, Monday through Friday
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

May 1-May 2, Monday through Tuesday
7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Election Day Voting

Saturday, May 6

City Council Members

The City of Gunter operates under a council-manager form of government. The mayor and City Council set the policy and direction for the city. The citizens of Gunter elect the mayor and five at-large council members for two-year staggered terms. The council appoints a City Manager to manage day-to-day operations.  

Terms for the City Council expire as follows:

  • Mayor and Place Numbers 2 and 4 - May 2023
  • Place Numbers 1, 3 and 5 - May 2024
